Side Hustle: 5 Tips On How You Can Keep Hustling After Your 9-5
Do you have one?
I know for me, i’ve been fairly inconsistent with my content on my blogging and video platform since the moment I created these platforms for myself. I’ve either been sidetracked with school, life, or work that I never really had time to put my full energy into them.
Now that I’m working a 9-5, I’m definitely finding it harder to find time and energy to work on my blog and youtube channel. I come home at times either exhausted, drained, or just ready to take a shower and go to sleep. I hate this because now I have time to work on my passions but their still coming in last place so I’ve decided the best way to make time is to find a way to work it in with my 9-5. They’re not separate, there one in the same. I love doing both, so why not make equal time for both. Right?
If you’re anything like me, then I know you can totally relate. It’s hard to be consistent and to find energy after work to keep on hustling after you clock out of your 9-5. For me, I’ve made it a goal to make time for the things that make me happy and keep my heart thumping. I’ve decided that instead of working harder, I need to work smarter and utilize the 12 hours that I am up and active in the day.
So here are the things I’ve done to help me hustle harder at my 9-5 and at my side hustle
USE YOUR LUNCH BREAKS WISELY- If you know that after work you are going to be tired and unmotivated to do your 5-10 side hustle work. Why not use your lunch breaks? Instead of taking a 30 minute break take an hour break to work on your side hustle. In an hour, you can write emails, make calls, write posts, edit videos, and anything else you might want to do. This will allow you to complete the work earlier that you would have to do later or to get head started on some work so you won’t spend too long after work on it.
PLANNER IS YOUR BEST FRIEND - Write down a to-do list of all the things that you need to get completed and do it. If you said that you need to edit a video today to make it available for people to watch tomorrow. DO IT. Don’t procrastinate. Do what you need to do to receive the results that you want
BLOCK OUT YOUR TIME - After work you have like 5-6 hours to gather yourself, get your stuff done, and prepare for the next work day. It’s easier for you to get your work done, when you have blocked out times for it. If you know you need to relax, take an hour or two to relax, catch up on some shows, and enjoy your time off. If you need to work out, take out 30 minutes to an hour to do that. If you need to cook, take out time for that as well. Once you schedule your time out to specific tasks then you will realize that you will at least have 2 hours left to work on your side hustle and get in bed in time to get enough sleep for work the next day. Blocking out your time will help keep you organized and less stressed about what you need to do with all the time available.
WEEKENDS ARE CRUCIAL - If you don’t want to stress yourself out during the workdays, make sure that you complete as much work as possible during the weekends. You can have photoshoots, do video or blog planning, organize and set up orders, or just anything else that would be harder to during the week. STAY AHEAD BY USING YOUR WEEKENDS
REACH FOR INSPO - It’s easy to get uninspired and unmotivated when you’re not seeing any results or receiving recognition but it’s important that you continue to pour into yourself. Whether that’s watching inspiring content, reading inspiring content, or just taking a moment to appreciate the accomplishments you’ve made so far. It’s hard to work for something that seems so out of reach but its also amazing to see how far you can go when you work and believe in yourself. Just because no one else sees your vision doesn't mean your vision isn’t possible. KEEP WORKING AT IT.
It’s possible to have it all, it’s just all about how hard are you willing to work for it. If you’re willing to do the work, then the results will follow. So don’t give up, because you never know how far you can go until you push your limits. So stay pushing, stay believing, and stay praying because if it’s meant to succeed it will.
